Rhythm and Moves

This pilot socialization project is geared toward children with neurological challenges that impact mobility, as well as gross and fine motor functions.

We utilize a multi-disciplinary approach based on gentle enhancements to increase functionality and social integration with this underlying premise: if it is not fun, it is not functional and a stressed system doesn’t strengthen. Each child is a significant member of a dynamic group process that fosters the development of new skills through rhythm and movement. By repeating tasks and integrating intentional movement with music and learning, the brain creates alternate paths to send messages to muscle groups, creating the desired movements.

Dates: Meets Fridays 1:30 to 3:30 (Full); Saturdays Noon to 2:00 (Open)
Led by Jackie Mason, Movement Specialist (Feldenkrais) and/or Prajna Ginty, Body Centered Therapist.

Teen Games for Girls

On the ziplineWhen people play together and not against each other, everyone has fun regardless of ability or skill. We provide a supportive forum to demystify society’s confusing and often contradictory messages delivered to our youth from the multimedia. Through non-competitive and cooperative games skills for problem solving, moving past obstacles and becoming strong in body, heart and soul is accomplished with new social roles. We teach young girls how to be in a compassionate relationship with who they are as they come of age as a woman in today’s world.

We are currently accepting girls between the ages of 12 and 16.
Group size is limited.
Dates: We meet monthly
