Sponsor a Child

We have children in our area that are in need of financial support in order for them to benefit from our programs.

You are welcome to make a donation that will directly support one or more of these children.

AbbyAbigayleAbby” was born at six months, weighing only 1 lb., 2 oz.  She had complications immediately after birth including eight surgeries on her heart, abdomen, eyes and the insertion of two deep lines as her veins were too small to hold needles.  She left the hospital at 3.5 pounds with a profound brain injury, diagnosed with cerebral palsy, blind, and the expectation that she would never be able to eat like a normal child. Abby’s eager determination to participate in life has allowed her to make great strides. At age six, many years of neurological healing, hyperbaric oxygen and brain therapies assisted Abby to step out of her wheelchair and to walk independently. She also began to see and speak with increased clarity. Abby is a delightful child who still struggles to read, write, walk well and integrate sensory stimulation to both sides of her body. She has participated in several conductive education programs with increased abilities to use the weaker side of her body. Her work with Jackie Mason is teaching her how to break out of rigid patterns. Her work with H.A.N.D.L.E. is supporting her in many ways and to become efficient at visual tasks.

Please support Abby to continue to make remarkable progress with these programs.

KarmelKarmel Karmel suffered a brain injury at 6 months of age and was diagnosed with mild cerebral palsy with weakness on her left side impacting movement and speech.  She is currently involved in therapeutic horseback riding and gymnastic classes.  She completed a six-week Conductive Education program at Flowing River School during summer, 2008.  Through this program, she was able to control her left limbs better and was able to use a knife and a fork for the first time.  She also learned to walk with both feet flat instead of on her toes.  Karmel lives with her grandmother and needs your support to continue to gain strength to reach her fullest potential and to participate in our programs.

LibbyElizabethLibby” is Abby’s twin and was born weighing 1 lb., 4 oz.  Libby suffered from extreme birth trauma receiving CPR for four hours, ending up in a semi-coma for the first six months of life. She was also diagnosed with cerebral palsy, failure to thrive and blind. In her early years neurological damage left her myelin sheath underdeveloped. She had uncontrollable seizures, acid reflux, colic and little weight gain. At age four she had a G-tube surgically inserted to help gain weight.  She has made ongoing progress since weaning off all medications and participating in a variety of therapies including neurological acupuncture, hyperbaric oxygen, cranial-sacral therapy and curative care as well as a special diet.  In the past two years Libby made a leap of progress with Marion Gilbert. Libby improved her mobility of her joints through a modified conductive education program and sage bath therapy. Her engagement in the social dynamic of our group supported her to sit at a table, hold her head up, and respond with the beginning phase of language development. She also improved her ability to eat textured foods. She just received her first H.A.N.D.L.E. program with Judith Bluestone.  Libby’s developmental and healing needs are great and we appreciate any support you can give toward her continued progress.
